I know it's a hard thing to quit doing, but for the safety of others and yourself,
download Drivesafe.ly app to your phones so that you will not read texts while driving-
the texts will be read to you!
Drivesafe.ly has a free version that will read up to 50 words of each of your texts and email messages.
The paid version reads the texts/emails in their entirety.
You can even change the settings to activate the app when you initiate your bluetooth headset.
There is a connected app called Caller ID Reader that tells you who is calling on your cellie.
I think that one is free as well.
Do yourself and everyone else a favor-
watch the road, not your cellie screen.
Let the cellie speak to you...
And be SAFE!!!

It's Been A Long Time...
Hey Sweeties!
I had a GREAT Thanksgiving! I celebrated with mom & Grandmom, uncles & cousins.
Plenty of food, talkin, fussin, and fun!!
Hope all of you had a fantastic time with your family and friends!
I have been kinda busy with the kiddies and the Hubz with his hip surgery, but thru it all, the good news is MIL is going home....FINALLY!!! After almost TEN MONTHS of drifting thru my house, she is LEAVING!!!
She will NOT be missed...
The hair is GROWING!!! I will get the notion to post some pix soon, but just take my word for it!!!
I have been trying not to become a product junkie, buying up everything a few people say is some miracle cure for natural hair, but I have bit on a couple of products.
1) Qhemet Burdock Root Butter Cream <qhemetbiologics.com>
This stuff is AMAZING! It makes my hair so buttery-soft! It will not define curls, but it will soften your hair like no other. Qhemet is made with great ingreds that are natural, vegan, and non-toxic. She has come a long way in production of products and shipping, going from a few weeks to receive shipment to about 10 days. She also has special sales a couple of times a year to allow her customers to stock up on products.
I was able to get in on her Black Friday sale where products were 20% off and free shipping for orders over $70. Even though there was some sort of glitch for ordering, I was tickled with my order and the shipping! My mom & I are so loving the products & are HOOKED!! If you are looking to have soft, moisturized hair, this is it right here! I plan on trying other products from her line soon. KUDOS to QHEMET!!!
2) A sorority member of mine suggested FX Curls UP for curl definition- and she was so right!! I love the fact that even though this is a gel, it does not make your hair 'crunchy" when it dries. It leaves hair soft, not sticky or greasy, and is not expensive. It can be found on the shelves in WALMART for about $4...
3) I did follow the crowd when I purchased Eco-Styler Olive Oil Styling Gel from Sally's recently. It also does a great job in defining curls and is VERY inexpensive -$3.49! No crunchies and non-drying.
Traveling to NC the weekend to see my family & crew there. Here's to one of my BFFs- Coach Tina Bullock & her Ladies' B-Ball team at Goldsboro High School in Goldsboro, NC and wishing them a GREAT winning season!!!
SEE Y'ALL NEXT TIME!!!

Nothing New...
Hey Y'all!
I know I have skipped a week, but all is quiet on the western front (so to speak) so I really didn't have much to write about.
CHIRRENZ
I have had a 'tangle' with the man-child . He seems to think his height (5'10") and his deep voice, coupled with a little mustache shadow and an ample "man print" in his britches equals MAN. WRONG!!! It was BELL RINGER time for man-child, including stripping his room of all the fun things, such as PS3s and blankets. I also reminded him that I would take the door off the hinges if need be. Hopefully man-child will GET IT real soon.
He forgets his mama is CRAY-ZEEE!!!
Wedded BLISS
Happy 7Th Anniversary to the Hubz & me!!! Here's hoping for 'a way bunch' more!!! I love you, MAN!!!
SHRINKAGE
I discovered that if I twist my hair in small sections, it gives me more 'volume' the following day-YAY!!! I still love my piggy-tail curls, but I'm kinda sick of the shrinkage. So I have started using MOZEKE holding cream (mozeke.com) mixed with a bit of aloe butter (oilsbynature.com). A little bit of each between my fingers on each piece and twist. The next day I wet & add VO5/oil mix and VOILE'!!!! Taller hair!!! I'm learning!!!
Oh, in case you want to place an order, Mozeke is having a 30% off sale-
October 6th everything is 30% off when you use discount code "OFF30" at checkout. Sale starts at 10/6/10 ends 10/7/10 at 12:00 am (midnight) Central standard time. Only while supplies last!!!!!
Y'all check it out!!!
MIL
Just wanted to say in the nicest way I know how-
Never let these types of people (Mothers-in-law) into your home,
not even for a visit.
You have been warned...
Dr.OZ
I am really starting to get into him & his show- I DVR it everyday. he has me ordering stuff for health, such as noni powder for overall health, but watching it has gotten depressing. For one reason, the news about a woman's body after 40. I don't mind aging, cuz the alternative in not desired, but I would love to not have to worry about slower metabolisms, weight gain, collagen loss, hair loss, all this happening without any effort! How about the older a person gets, nature just leave us alone!!!
SPEAKING OF THE HUBZ
He has hip replacement surgery soon. Mind you, he is younger than me, so this is a trip! But better to do it now than wait until his hip is REALLY bad.
This must be my year of playing nurse-
I have been assisting an aunt since her cancer diagnosis/chemo treatments (That was an experience- whew) and now HUbz & the hip, plus he had his shoulder worked on earlier in the year. Just call me Florence Nightingale!
COOKING
I despise cooking. I can cook, but I don't like to. As much as I love to PLAN, I hate Planning meals, unless it's pertaining to a restaurant. Having confessed this, I still want beautiful cookware. I want Rachel Ray's cooking and bakeware, but I would need to take out a personal loan to able to afford it! Oh well, we will just work with what we got!!!
TEACHING
Why is the teaching profession the new "family values" issue floating about?
And teachers are the targets? To me, the target should be those on Capital Hill that have allowed the farce to go on for as long as it has.
I'm not sure of the US Secretary of Education's name, but when he appeared on the OKRAH (Yeah I Know) Show the other day, I could not even stomach to listen to the rhetoric spewing from his mouth. Same old status quo, same old mess... Then the governor of NJ (he could miss a meal or 2) hammering at the teacher's unions- PUH-LEEZ!!!
If the unions were such monsters, they would have been diminished a while back. They are there for the teacher's protection...PERIOD. All this talk of the teacher's rolling up their sleeves- what about the administration? what about the parents? what about the bureaucrats? When THEY decide to start at the top with the cuts and disciplinary actions, then I will be very interested. But this local BS, nah. Just ploys to get these toot-holes votes...
Show me someone who has come up through the ranks and is aware of the pros and cons from all levels, all sides, then I will listen. Until that time, I will sit here on the provisional license and not worry about going back into anyone's classroom. IT JUST AIN'T WORTH IT!!!!!
Y'all have a great & blessed week!!!!!!!!!!!

New Week- New Memo
Greetings!!
Only a few things going on this week.
I got my results from my annual mammogram- ALL CLEAR!!! I hate this exam, worse than the PAP smear in fact, but it has become a necessary evil since turning & surpassing 40 (Thank You God!). Turning 'The Girlz' into pancakes ain't no fun, but it makes sure they remain healthy.
About this naptural hair- I love it and it's easy to maintain, but I am NOT feeling the 'shrinkage'. My hair has really grown, but you can't tell it from the shrinkage. I am in no hurry to do anything else to it (no heat), but GEEZZ!!
Speaking of hair, I combed my hair for the first time in over 2 months. I wanted a seamless comb, but did not want to pay the postage for the shipping. So while hanging out with a gf (Hey Cheek!), we ventured to Sally's. I found a great comb- New Image Natural Rosewood & Maple detangler comb. The teeth are made with rounded tips, there appears to be no seams & made detangling a breeze w/o scratching the scalp. It was $6, but if you have a Sally's discount card it will help.
I have also used another product from Mozeke (Mozeke.com)- the whipped avocado cream. It has a wonderful light fragrance and is very thick. I used it right after getting out of the shower with dripping wet hair. I got 2 kinda big dollops of cream and massaged it through my hair (with some avocado butter (oilsbynature.com) in between each dollop). after drying my hair was very touchable, not greasy, and so soft. I am really starting to like her products.
I have one mer to try- the holding cream. Will keep you posted...
I am in the process of training our new pit puppy, Crixus. He is a cute li'l dude, but he is EXTREMELY hard-headed. He loves to climb up on the sofa next to me and chill, but he also seems to think it's ok to climb up here and pee as well! He has gotten severely punished for this absolute no-no, but seems to favor urinating on high! Go figure!
Raising teens is a trip! Trying to keep the boundaries in place while trying not to forget how you felt during this time about the same subject matter (whatever it happens to be this week!). And he-boys are just a taxing as she-girls!!! They all have D-R-A-M-A!!!
Congratulations to my gf LaTina Bullock! She has been selected as the new Women's Head Basketball coach at Goldsboro High School in Goldsboro, NC. I am so excited for her in this new endeavor! Go LADY COUGARETTES!!!!
Shout out to the ladies of Delta Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in Metro Phoenix! They were very welcoming and I look forward to working with them (Thanx Soror Karen!)!!

Stuff This Week
Hey People!!
Just checking in to hip you to some of the stuff that has taken place this week.
Did the annual checkup/mammogram- hoping all goes well with the ninny-jugs.
Took my son to a podiatirst- waste of time- his knee is bothering him, not his feet. Leave it to the base doctors...
I am getting into my teeth more- they say the older you get the more you have to look after your teeth. I ordered a CYBERSONIC tooth system. It has 2 sizes of brushes for teeth (large & small), a tongue cleaner, and a flosser. Cost me $60, but I have had one before and it worked well, so I decided to go back to what works best. Got free shipping too!
I also am in the market for a WATERPIK. I want the PIK POCKET attachments as well. The cheapest I have seen so far is $47 online. I will be checking stores this week and possibly using the $5 discount coupon if I purchase in-store...
Y'all know I am on the natural hair bandwagon, and I have not found anything better than my wonderful VO5/Lustrasilk Leave-in condishes mixed with veggie oil. I have ventured out and tried Miss Jessie's Curl Meringe (which I will reserve a final verdict until I use it in the cooler months- it wasn't for the summer), but now I have also tried a few products from MOZEKE (mozeke.com).
I have purchased the coconut kokum hair milk, whipped avocado cream, and the mango cupuacu holding butter. They have samples for $6 each and the shipping was pretty quick. The only product I have used so far is the hair milk. The mell is wonderful, long lasting, but not overpowering. It made my hair soft, esp. after drying, and has great holding power (even though that's not what it's marketed for). I like it so far...
I want a Clarisonic Cleansing System!!! I have tried to fight it, but I want one...mainly because I have had breakouts from the hair oils...if you guys know of a way to stop this other than the Clarisonic, let me know!!! Anyway, I found a great deal for them at Askderm.com. If you "like' them on Facebook, they will give you the code to get 20% off your purchase, plus give free shipping.
I have also purchased an Otterbox phone protector for my Blackberry. It makes my phone look big as heck, bit it is protected if I get the fumble-fingers and drop it!
I am in the market for a new laptop, preferably the note/netbooks. I was looking at the Hewlett-Packard 10.1 inch model made my Vivienne Tam (she is a famous fashion designer). This notebook has been dubbed the Sex & the City 2 laptop. OK... Anyhoo, I just like the design on the case and the fact that it's new. I have an Acer Aspire, but the baby can't handle all of the stuff I try to do (evidently). I was also looking at the iPad, but I think it's just an over-priced iPhone (& that's purely MY opinion) and NO, I don't own or have a desire to own an iPhone!
Ever thought about becoming a Notary Public? It doesn't seem to be a long, drawn-out process to obtain the license, but the problem seems to be marketing yourself.. just a thought.
That's the end of my drivel for this week!
If you guys have any suggestions, hit me up!!!

Please excuse any spelling bloopers-

Startin' Sumfin NEW
Hey!!!
This is my second attempt at blogging.
I have one entry on a hair website
and have not attempted to try it again.
This will be an attempt to keep a log (or journal if you will )
of my natural hair journey, amongst other things, such as random thoughts,
problems, ideas, wishes, and even dreams.
I am winding down from an uneventful Labor Day weekend.
I ventured out ALONE to see the movie "TAKERS"
with the GAW-JESS Idris Elba and the rugged T.I.-
LOVED the movie (I'm a bang-bang shoot-'em-up kinda chick anyway)!!
Hope there is a Part II!!!
The Hubz cooked on the grill today-
everything from ribs to macaroni salad!
Good eatin'!!!!!!
I have a couple of Mystery Shops I have to conduct hopefully tomorrow.
I have an apartment shop in Buckeye, AZ and possibly a truck stop shop.
Since the locations are so close, I will go on and get that money!!
I just purchased a Cybersonic toothbrush system.
I had one years ago, but threw it away for some reason.
It worked well then, so I hope it works well now.
I chose this one because of the flosser attachement-
I HATE flossing my teefus!!!
I did nothing to my hair today, so I have truly been sporting
a little fuzzy 'fro! I still love it, though, & DO NOT plan to
return to the 'creamy crack'!!! That mess takes up too much time & effort.
The transition to natural was just too easy & there is no turning back!
I will be glad when it grows out more so I can have a bit more variety
in style choices. I just wear a WnG now, with my beloved VO5 condishes
laced with the oil-of-choice-today. Makes my curlz P-O-P!!!
Well, that's all for the nite, kiddies!
MWAAHHH!!!!!!!!
